Celebration of Life Mass for Beloved MPCS Spanish Teacher Mrs. Angela Coleman

It is with deep sadness, Mount Paran Christian School shares the tragic news of the passing of our beloved high school Spanish teacher, Mrs. Angela Coleman. While her death at age 51 was unexpected and heartbreaking, our school community takes comfort in knowing that she died peacefully and is now resting in the arms of her Savior. 

A mass and celebration of life service will be held January 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 87 Lacy Street in Marietta, Georgia, 30060.

 

Angela was more than a teacher — she was a true gift to the school community for almost 15 years. She poured her heart into her students, served with humility and joy, and lived out her faith daily through kindness, wisdom, and genuine care for others. Her tremendous impact on our students, colleagues, and families will not be forgotten.

Angela’s extensive track record of building student relationships grounded in biblical truths made her an exceptional visionary of her craft. She had a natural ability to understand the unique needs of diverse learners with varying cultural and ethnic backgrounds and learning styles. She was an enthusiastic learner in her own right and one of Mount Paran Christian School’s most passionate leaders and supportive colleagues. 

In her own words, Angela Coleman wrote: “What does leadership look like when you are ‘just a teacher’? Your work and your role are not who you are. Your identity is secure in Christ. I have a renewed sense of purpose at my school. I am not chasing a title. I am simply finding the joy in sharing my passion for teaching with both my students and my colleagues.” 

But more profound than her professionalism was her intentional and deep caring and the ability to connect with people relationally which is what she will be most remembered by. There are countless testimonies of her impact on students, colleagues, and many alumni:
 

• Fellow teacher Missy O’Sullivan shared, ”She loved hard, was thoughtful and loyal, and loved every moment to its fullest. She made everything more fun and her smile lit up the room!” 

• Class of 2022 alumna Paige Armstrong said, “Señora Coleman knew me probably better than I knew myself. She made me feel so known and loved because she knew my capabilities and was a teacher who saw something inside of me.”

• Alumnus Harrison Meyer ‘16 also stated, “Señora Coleman changed my life. She was not just a good teacher. She was a good friend.”

• Former fellow teacher Tyler Cox said, "She had a way of making people feel seen, known, and worth your time. She didn’t just notice people; she cared for them, invested in them, and carried them in her heart."

• Past principal, Eric Bradley shared, "The kids knew she was a great teacher, but more importantly, they knew she believed in them. She cheered them on at games or through her leadership of the SGA or on mission trips or by giving out hugs or words of encouragement in the hallways. She was so much more than a teacher."

• Former associate head, Tawanna Rusk shared, "MPCS is a better school because of her love and dedication. I know God is telling her, well done, my good and faithful servant."

• Alumnus Taylor Trammell '16 commented, "You were my favorite. We all know the impact people can have on our lives; especially teachers, coaches, and mentors. What makes certain teachers special is their care for and belief in their students. Señora Coleman believed in me and supported me."

• Former colleague Mr. John Braswell added, “I know of no light that burned brighter on a daily basis than the light that Angela Coleman brought to the MPCS campus.”
