Name: Katie Rosser

Title: High School Directed Studies Teacher

Number of Years in Profession: 17

Education: Bachelor's — History Education with a minor in Coaching (Kennesaw State University) Master's — Curriculum & Instruction with a Gifted Endorsement (Valdosta State University) Specialist— Curriculum & Instruction with Online Teaching Endorsement (Valdosta State University)

Fun Fact: I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports, and traveling. In college, I did a 2 week intensive study abroad focused on World War II & the Holocaust.

What are your favorite types of books to read? Being a history nerd, I've enjoyed the Killing series (Reagan, Kennedy, Lincoln, & the SS). Currently, I'm reading Loving the Little Years — Motherhood in the Trenches with our small group.

What are your MPCS connections? I have 2 daughters currently attending MPCS: Mary Katherine (1st grade) & Millie Tate (Pre-K4).

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I am excited for the opportunity to jump back into Christian education, while getting to spend more time alongside my children's educational journey. I'm looking forward to supporting students where they are currently, and cheering them on with their personal goals (academics, extracurriculars, spiritual/faith, and life beyond high school).


Name: Molly Beth Covin

Title: Arts Engagement Coordinator

Number of Years in Profession: 4

Education: I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, with a Minor in Marketing from Mississippi State University and a Master of Business Administration with a Marketing Concentration from Mississippi State University.

Fun Fact: I own a small creative studio called MollyBethDesigns, where I get to bring brands, illustrations, and custom projects to life. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me back in Starkville at a Mississippi State sporting event!

What are your favorite types of books to read? My favorite book of all time is Little Women!

What are your MPCS connections? My fiancé graduated from MPCS, so I’ve heard wonderful things for years. I’m new to both MPCS and Georgia and I already feel incredibly welcomed by the community!

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I’m excited to help elevate and celebrate the arts at MPCS — telling the stories of our incredible students and faculty. I’m thrilled to be part of a place where creativity, excellence and faith are at the heart of everything we do!
 


Name: Janelle Daniels
 

Title: Third Grade Paraprofessional,

Number of Years in Profession: 3

Education: I have a Bachelor of Business from SUNY Empire State College and I am currently enrolled at KSU for a MAT in Elementary Education.

Fun Fact: I am married with 6-year-old twin boys who I enjoy spending most of my time with when I am not at school. I stayed home to raise them for 4 years prior to entering the educational field. I love to cook, bake, and enjoy nature.

What are your favorite types of books to read? My favorite children's book is "Love You Forever."

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? The fact that Jesus Christ is at the center of this school, and I can openly speak about my faith in God.


Name: Elizabeth Quackenbush
 

Title: Spanish Teacher/World Languages

Number of Years in Profession: 11

Education: B.A. Modern Language and Culture // University of Salamanca- M.A. Spanish Language and Culture // University of West Georgia- EdS. Instructional Technology

Fun Fact: I love photographing puffins and have chased them all the way to Scotland, Iceland, and Ireland.

What are your favorite types of books to read? I am currently enjoying my sister-in-law’s newest Christian book series, Eyes to the Hills. The first book, Some Melodious Sonnet, has been a meaningful and inspiring read.

What are your MPCS connections? I have two children attending MPCS: Hannah in Kindergarten and Owen in Pre-K3.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? Teaching in a Christian setting gives me the unique opportunity to integrate Biblical truth into my lessons, encouraging students to grow both academically and spiritually. I look forward to equipping students with language skills they can use to serve others and glorify God.


Name: Caroline Bailey
 

Title: Middle School STEAM Teacher

Education: Bachelors in Creative Technologies from Berry College

Fun Fact: I love 3D modeling! Being able to take something you have digitally designed and see it come to life through 3D printing is MAGIC! I love getting to teach students that process and share the joy!

What are your favorite types of books to read? Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I love watching my students make discoveries and learning alongside them. I can't wait to see all the awesome projects that have been made by the end of the year!

 

Name: Frieda Frierson

Title: After School Care Instructor

Education: Attended Dyke Business College

Fun Fact: I love classic movies. TCM is my favorite channel to watch.

What are your favorite types of books to read? I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou is my favorite book of all time.

What are your MPCS connections? Coach Chuck Frierson is my nephew and Gia Frierson is my great-niece.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I'm excited about working at MPCS this year because it's the 50th anniversary and the Christ-like, family-oriented environment.


Name: Stephanie Swanson

Title: Second Grade Paraprofessional

Education: B.S, Early Childhood Education

Fun Fact: I love to craft! Making gifts for others is one of my favorite things to do!

What are your favorite types of books to read? I love a good beach read!

What are your MPCS connections? I have a tenth-grade son Sam and a sixth-grade daughter Annie. This is our first year at MPCS.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I took a long break from teaching to stay home and raise my four children. Now that two are in college, I am excited at the opportunity to get back into the classroom in the paraprofessional position! I have always taught first grade but second grade was my favorite as a student so I'm thrilled to be in second grade this year!

Title: Third Grade Reading Teacher

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Kennesaw State University and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from American College of Education

Fun Fact: My wife, Katie, and I have two Aussie-doodles that we enjoy taking on walks and being outdoors with.

What are your favorite types of books to read? My favorite genre of books to read are mystery novels.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I am so excited to teach at MPCS this year because it allows me to combine my passion for teaching with my love for Christ. I look forward to helping students grow academically while also encouraging them in their faith.

Fun Fact: My first words were "Go Dawgs." I am a blood descendent to Pocahontas. I am related to Ty Cobb.

What are your favorite types of books to read? My all-time favorite book is Unbroken.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I am excited about getting to do what I love with creativity and artistry while showcasing and supporting our athletes, coaches and fans.


Name: Eric Willoughby

Fun Fact: I love to play golf, camp, and spend time with my family.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? After a career in the public school system as a high school band director and administrator, the Lord had been calling me into ministry for several years. The opportunity to serve at MPCS as an arts administrator has married my experience with my passion for Christian ministry. I already love the community and culture at MPCS and look forward to many years of support the Arts at our school and in our community, all of the glory of Jesus!

 

Name: Betsi Mallouk

Title: Kindergarten Teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science Early Childhood Education from Kansas State University

Fun Fact: I love to spend time outdoors exploring new places! We like to hike, ski, and spend time at the beach.

What are your favorite types of books to read? My favorite fiction book of all time is Charlottes Web.  

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? The people are absolutely wonderful and I am excited about the future of Student Support Services here at MPCS.

 

Name: Katie Ray Diaz

Title: Director of Student Support Services

Education: B.S, Education from Georgia State University and M.Ed. Middle and Secondary Education from Mercer University

Fun Fact: I enjoy reading, hiking, playing with my puppies, and cheering on my husband who is a high school football coach.

What are your favorite types of books to read? I am in currently in graduate school and reading, "Healthy Boards - Successful Schools" and "Leading Change" by John Kotter. 

What are your MPCS connections? My two boys Jack (8th grade) and Henry (6th grade) attend MPCS.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I am thrilled to be working at MPCS this year and to have the opportunity to invest in our youngest learners in the Lower School. It brings me great joy to help kindergarten students grow, not only in their love for Jesus but also in their passion for learning and reading. Kindergarten is such a foundational year, and it’s truly rewarding to witness the incredible growth that takes place over the course of just one school year. From the first day to the last, students develop in so many areas: socially, emotionally, academically, and physically. It’s an honor to walk alongside them in that journey and to be a part of their early educational experience.

 

Name: JJ Pernell

Title: Seventh Grade Math Teacher

Education: Bachelors Degree in Middle Grades Education of Math and Science from Kennesaw State University

Fun Fact: I am a huge Sports fan: Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks.

What are your favorite types of books to read? I am currently reading: Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson.

What are your MPCS connections? Hannah Davis the 7th grade Science Teacher was my former boss at Chick-fil-a.

What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? Many things make me excited about working at MPCS this year, but if I had to say one thing it would be it being my first year teaching and being able to learn and grow as a teaching in this amazing environment!

What are your MPCS connections? My son, Chance, is 5 years old and is in Pre-K4.
 
What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year? I came to MPCS from working as a corporate executive, so working with the children and getting to share the love of God with them is so exciting and joyful!
 

Name: Mike Walker

Education: BS Degree in Physical Ed Health from Clarks Summit University and MA Degree in Organizational Leadership fro Eastern University
 
Fun Fact: My wife and I both played Division III basketball in Pennsylvania. We have two dogs: Tucker (rescue blue heeler) and Gigi (Australian Mini Labradoodle). Two of our children are in college. Olivia is a junior at Liberty University in Virginia studying Education and TJ is at Indiana Wesleyan University in Indiana studying Business and playing football.
 
What are your favorite types of books to read? I enjoy leadership books and biographies about athletes and coaches. My favorites are Lead with a Limp, Leaders Eat Last and Shoe Dog.
 
What are your MPCS connections? Son Micah is in grade 10.
 
What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year?
I was initially attracted to the mission of MPC, the location here in GA and the strong commitment to athletics.

Name: Schelli Hutchinson
 
Title: Pre-K3 Teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Child and Family Development from The University of Georgia, GO DAWGS!
 
Fun Fact: I love live music (Third Day), Georgia Football (Go Dawgs), and making desserts (Banana Pudding with Nutter Butters).
 
What is your favorite book? Redeeming Love is my favorite.
 
What are your MPCS connections? All three of my children were lifers at MPCS, Pre-K3 through grade 12: Ashlyn '15, Abbey '18, and Will '21.
 
What makes you excited about working at MPCS this year?
This is my return back to MPCS after 3 years. I am most excited to be able to share God's love with my Pre-K3 students and foster a love for learning in them. I also love the fact that I get to see my past students perform on the stage, field and courts. This school helped me raise my own 3 children into the wonderful people they are today and I would not change a thing about our years here. Mount Paran Christian School is a special place that I am blessed to be a part of!
