MPCS Early College Acceptances Outperform State Averages

So far this year, our MPCS class of 2025 seniors have started strong in their Early Action college acceptances. While many students are still awaiting decisions, the early round of selective in-state college data is in.

Since the launch of the HOPE Scholarship, acceptance into the University of Georgia and Georgia Institute of Technology has become highly competitive. Both universities accept a first round of students in phases, with many additional regular decision applicants receiving notification of acceptance in mid-March. Both schools look for a well-balanced student with a wide array of activities and community service, as well as stellar academic achievement. In our Early Action pool of applicants from MPCS, the results so far this year are just as stellar.

Early Action Statistics and Comparisons

University of Georgia

47% (14 of 30) MPCS students admitted Early Action so far;  13 deferred for regular decision in March
42% overall State-wide acceptance rate; 31% overall National acceptance rate

+5% higher Early Action admittance rate than state public schools to date

Georgia Tech

46% (6 out of 13) students admitted Early Action so far;  38% (5) deferred for regular decision in March;  15% (2) conditional admits through the transfer pathway
33% overall State-wide acceptance rate (early action phase 1);  26% deferred;  21% conditional transfer pathway

+13% higher Early Action admittance rate than state public schools to date

Large universities out-of-state are also becoming more and more competitive in admission. So far 17 of 20 (85%) of early-action students from MPCS were accepted to Auburn University with the rest deferred for spring decision. The University of Tennessee accepted 61% of applicants Early Action and the University of South Carolina took 63% so far. Additionally, MPCS had one student apply to and gain acceptance to highly-selective NYU! Coupled with the strength of the MPCS high school academic profile, elite universities are recognizing the quality of our students. They are confident in our graduates' knowledge, abilities, and history of college success which shows by the greater percentage of admittance. Last year, 54% of MPCS applicants were accepted to UGA and/or Georgia Tech overall which was +12% greater than the overall UGA/GT state average.

In college counseling, our mission is that every senior truly finds the right college fit based on their personal strengths and future goals — whether that be at large state schools or great small colleges across the nation. Wherever God leads them, our team works diligently to help students along the way.

About MPCS High School Counseling — Guiding You Through the Journey

Recognizing the crucial services school counselors provide, the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) recommends that for every 250 students there is at least one school counselor. According to recent research by ASCA, the national average ratio is 385-to-1. At MPCS, our high school counselors have caseloads at about 140 students.

Time and time again, MPCS graduates tell us how well-prepared they were for college classes. Aside from obtaining many course exemptions from high school AP courses, recent alumni had this to say about their level of preparedness.

Jonathan Stephens '24 — Georgia Tech:
“I’ve realized greater success in my chemistry lab at Georgia Tech because I’m often one of the few freshmen with hands-on experience using certain techniques, thanks to Mount Paran’s access to advanced lab equipment and knowledgeable teachers.”
Ansley Hester '24 — Lee University:
"One of the things that I have had to apply into my college life is time management. It's such an important skill that you need in college that Mount Paran very much instilled in me."
Ciara Alexander ‘24 — Campbell University (basketball):
"MPCS gave me the opportunity to learn how to balance athletics and academics. Playing a varsity sport while also having a rigorous schedule can be demanding; however, those challenges taught me to emphasize time management, which has been crucial at the collegiate level."
Mallory Westbrook '23 — University of Georgia:
“I went into UGA as a sophomore Honors program student and I’ve actually felt over-prepared for my classes there. In harder courses I had to apply the study habits I used at Mount Paran which came pretty easily for me compared to my friends who struggled a lot more coming from public schools.”
Enrico Washington '15 — Kennesaw State University, Liberty University (masters):
"The skills that I learned during my time at Mount Paran that prepared me for my collegiate and professional career was seeing the world from a spiritual perspective as well as connecting with people from all walks of life."
Paisley Shoch '23 — University of Tennessee:
"The thing that helped me prepare the most for college from Mount Paran was just being open with my teachers and telling them if I don't understand something so that I don't fall behind before it gets too late. I’ve done that with my college professors too."
VJ Ray '25 — Accepted to UGA Honors / Georgia Tech:
"One thing I feel that Mount Paran does a great job at is teaching students how to manage their course load because here you can play a bunch of sports year round and then also take really hard classes and figure out how to excel in both."
Paige Armstrong '22 — Auburn University:
"Mount Paran prepared me so well for all aspects of college! Academically, I knew how to employ time management skills to get my work done and study in advance while having time for friends, club volleyball, and other involvements! Taking AP and honors classes at MPCS got me ready for college classes due to the rigor. Additionally, being surrounded by a Christian community at MPCS deepened my relationship with the Lord as I had peers, mentors, and staff uplifting me and praying over me in some of the hardest of times for my family and me. I have even pursued the Lord even more fervently at Auburn as my foundation and values were set before college — I knew my true identity, surrounded myself with like-minded community, and wanted to honor the Lord through my words and actions! Taking Apologetics my senior year of high school was one of my most insightful classes as I share the gospel with others and understand God even better, and I am so thankful that I had this class before college! I still keep in contact with faculty and staff at MPCS as a junior at Auburn, and I’m grateful to always have their support!"
