MPC Track State Champion

Congratulations to the boys MPC track and field team for three podium finishes in the GHSA Track and Field State Championships —  and three new school records! The Eagles took home gold and two bronze medals.

Congratulations to senior Shipley Smith for winning the #1 individual State title in the two-mile plus two third-place wins in other events, as well as earning three new school records! Shipley will take his long-distance running skills to the NCAA DII cross country team at Georgia College & State University.

State Champion — First Place in the 3200 (2-mile) with a school record of 9:44

3rd Place — 1600 (1 mile) 4:32 with a school record of 4:32

3rd Place — 4x800m Relay, along with S. McMurray, R. Ramirez, and C. Hewling, and another school record of 8:19

In addition, the the 4x400 meter team (A. Overton, S. McMurry, K. Bennefield, and C. Hewling) also broke the school record. Not far behind freshman R. Ramirez took 5th place in the 3200m and 7th in the 1600m. Finally, the girls MPC track and field 4x100 meter team took sixth in the State.
