Mock Trial Places in Top Four of State Competition
- Academics
Of the 166 teams in Georgia, the Mock Trial Legal Eagles completed their season as a Final Four team in a nail-biting, close semifinal round against Decatur, who will represent our state at the national competition in May. In a thrilling moment for MPCS, Georgia's Supreme Court Justice stated that she would be proud for our team to represent Georgia at Nationals. This is the highest MPCS has ranked in thirteen years and is only the second time our school has made it to the highly competitive Final Four. Graduating only one member this spring, the team anticipates a continued upward trajectory.
The following individuals received awards at State in Lawrenceville last weekend:
Our 2024 Law Academy participant Julienne Geffrard, with a score of 90% or higher on the Student Bar Exam, was admitted with honors to the Student Bar of Georgia.
In addition to an Outstanding Performance Award selected by opposing teams, Nick Massey also took two Outstanding Witness Awards, one of which was earned in the semifinals.
Izzy White also secured an Outstanding Witness Award for her role as an expert.
Sam Tucker was awarded two Outstanding Performance certificates, one for his witness role and one for his opening attorney position.
The MPCS Legal Eagles competed with exceptional skill at the Mock Trial District Competition on Saturday, with both the Varsity and Premier Teams securing top two finishes in their respective districts. As a result, both teams will advance to the State Competition, held from March 14-16.
Several students earned recognition for their outstanding performances:
- Outstanding Attorney Awards: Mary Reese Harvey (2x), Lauren Ewell, Robert Hansil, and Sam Harris
- Outstanding Witness Awards: Mylan Crawford and Izzy White
- Outstanding Performance Awards (elected by opposing teams): Mary Reese Harvey (2x), Mckayla Chaffee, Mylan Crawford, Luke Diggle, and Julienne Geffrard
Congratulations to all the Legal Eagles for their hard work and success! We’re excited to see them compete at the state level!
