Twice per year, our letter jacket vendor, Jostens, will open the new online ordering window for varsity letter jackets. Athletics will announce the spring and fall dates our vendor will be on campus during high school lunch for student sizing and try-ons. Any high school student who has already earned a varsity letter is eligible to place an order during those timeframes!
How do I earn a letter?
As one of our core values, MPCS teaches students to be "pursuers of excellence." It is our goal to guide students to explore many of the opportunities available to them at the school for a complete and well-rounded education. To encourage this, MPCS offers high school students additional opportunities to earn a letter in academics, arts, and athletics, which also will earn them area-specific jacket sleeve patches to signify their achievements. Criteria includes:
- Athletics — Compete in an athletics sport at the varsity level for at least one year (athletes will also receive a sport-specific pin and bars for subsequent years played)
- Academics — Participate in an competitive academic team (Eagle Robotics, Mock Trial)
- Arts — Participate in a competitive arts event at a varsity or high level (MPC Band, Visual Art Symposium, Winter Guard, All-State, One Act/Literary competitions, etc.)
Our goal is to encourage students to compete on the various teams or arts competitions beyond playing sports, for a well-balanced school experience!
How do I get the sleeve patches?
As noted, the ultimate goal is for a student to potentially letter in all of the three "A's": Athletics, Arts, and Academics!
Athletics:
Student-athletes will receive one "M" letter at their varsity end-of-season banquet. If a student chooses to order a letter jacket, an additional "M" letter will automatically be added to their letter jacket order by the vendor. Athletes' jackets will ALSO include the MPC Eagle-head patch on the right sleeve, added by the vendor. "M" letters already received must then be swapped for the jacket when orders arrive to the school. If a student does not order a jacket, they may of course keep the "M" letter by itself.
In addition, if an athlete is awarded a GHSA-issued or state of Georgia Region/Playoff patch for team achievements, those patches may be added on your own. We recommend that GHSA patches are sewn on below the graduation year first, or can be added to other locations if the left sleeve is full.
Arts and Academics:
Students who letter in arts and academics will receive an "M" letter from their coach or the arts department at their end-of-season celebration. Arts patches or academic seal patches will also be given to participants that letter in those areas. If a student chooses to order a letter jacket, an "M" letter will automatically be added to their letter jacket order by the vendor. "M" letters already received must then be swapped for the jacket when orders arrive to the school. Student should then have the arts patch or academic seal patch sewn on the right sleeve individually after they receive their jacket. If a student does not order a jacket, they may of course keep the "M" letter and sleeve patch.
Challenge yourself or your student to earn all three patches to be added to the right jacket sleeve!
