Coach Kick-off Lunch to Launch Athletic Vision

Mount Paran Christian School’s athletics coaches gathered at the Marietta Country Club for the annual Coach Kick-off Lunch to set the tone for what promises to be a dynamic year for MPC Athletics.

The event, hosted by the Eagle Backers booster club, began with a warm welcome from the booster club president, Wayne Brown, who highlighted the organization’s commitment to supporting every athletic team and program on campus. The gathering brought together members of the Eagle Backer board, coaches, athletic staff and team parents in a show of unity and momentum.

New Director of Athletics, Mike Walker, delivered a compelling vision for the future of MPC Athletics. In his remarks, Walker introduced a bold goal: to make Mount Paran one of the premier “both/and” athletic programs in the country.

“We will strive to give every athlete a chance to play for a championship AND also aspire to see every athlete look back on their experience at MPC and give testimony to the impact God had on their life through their athletic journey,” Walker said.

Following the vision presentation, parents and Eagle Backer supporters were dismissed, allowing Walker to lead an in-depth session with coaches. The discussion focused on best practices for student-athlete engagement, fostering meaningful relationships and delivering exceptional experiences for families involved in MPC Athletics.

“I am extremely excited to continue serving as an athletic director and grateful for the opportunity to come alongside the incredible coaches at Mount Paran Christian School,” Walker said. “The Coach Kick-off Lunch was a great opportunity to start the year off focusing on the #MPCWay and what it takes to excel as an athletic department.”

Coaches from across the athletic department expressed enthusiasm and support for the direction of the program.

“I thought the luncheon was fantastic,” said Coach Chancy, Varsity Volleyball Head Coach. “I am fired up for this volleyball season!”

“The coaches luncheon was a valuable insight to the direction of the athletic program under Athletic Director Mike Walker,” added Coach Arntzen, Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach. “His understanding of the challenges facing the various teams and programs has been immediate, highlighting areas of success and outlining areas for growth. Walker says the program is strong, but he looks forward to taking Mt. Paran Athletics to new heights.”

The Coach Kick-off Lunch marks a significant step in reaffirming the mission of MPC: to use athletics as a platform for character development, spiritual growth and competitive excellence. Coaches at MPC play a vital role in shaping the culture of the school, and this event emphasized their influence and shared purpose.
