Black History Bowl Participants Win Championship and Earn Placement in Hall of Fame

Our MPCS Black History Bowl team has won a third consecutive Championship title! The team battled for 12 hours against six finalist teams Saturday to take home the win. Success in the Black History Bowl is no small feat, as "bowlers" must memorize more than 1,100 facts about remarkable African Americans and significant moments in Black History. While this is the first three-peat for our team, this is actually the fourth overall championship for our school. Competitions began in January with a field of 32 teams. The MPCS team then advanced to the Sweet 16 and the Elite 8, finally heading to the Final Four.

MPCS Students win Hall of Fame Award for Black History Bowl

A special congratulations to team captain S. Harris and J. Lim who were two of the top scorers across the entire field earning them both a spot in the Hall of Fame. Previously, only one person earned a spot in the Hall of Fame so this is quite an accomplishment. Harris, Lim, and C. Broggi were all named to the all county All Star team as well.

We are so proud of all of these students and their commitment to excellence! Thank you to teacher Hasani George for shepherding the team throughout the training process and competition season, as well as the students, faculty, and administration who showed up to cheer them on.
