MPC Wins Back-to-Back Director's Cup

For the second year in a row, MPC athletics has earned Regions Director's Cup issued by the Georgia Athletic Director's Association (GADA). The overall athletic program won the back-to-back title in the GHSA Division 2A classification for the state of Georgia for the 2023-2024 season.

In addition, the Lady Eagles won the honors again for overall top female program in 2A. The boys athletic program also won first place as the top-performer in the classification.

In 2023-2024, MPC teams brought home four (4) State Championship titles in addition to other high-bracket finishes in State-playoff competition. Starting off the streak was varsity girls volleyball winning their third straight State title, and fourth for the program under Coach Selina Chancy. MPC competition cheer continued their dominance in 2A earning their 12th State Championship title under the leadership of Coach Shelley Ray and Kate Henderson. Coach Stephanie Dunn's varsity girls basketball also three-peated in State winning the championship in 2A once again. The boys varsity golf team, coached by Scott Varner, earned their second consecutive State title with golfer A. Hudson earning the individual State title for low medalist in the final round of play. Shipley Smith '24 also won the individual 2-mile State track and field title.

The Eagles also claimed a first-time State runner-up finish in girls varsity soccer. Varsity girls softball achieved Elite 8 status for the sixth-year in a row. Varsity tennis as well as baseball both once again reached the Final 4 with girls softball, tennis, and lacrosse making it to the Elite 8.

The previous 2022-2023 season was also one for the record books! Despite the initial uncertainty of moving from the A-Private classification into the higher Division 2A level, the Eagles claimed a record five State championship titles, including two new program titles; two State runner-up titles; and eight Region and Area championships. The hard-won efforts of MPC student-athletes earned Mount Paran Christian School the 2A Georgia Athletic Directors’ Association (GADA) Director’s Cup which was the first in the school's history! In addition, the Lady Eagles won the honors for overall top female program in 2A, and the boys came in second.

Way to go, Eagles!

About the GADA Regions Director's Cup

Since 1999, the GADA Regions Bank Director’s Cup has been awarded to the top athletic programs in each classification based on a scaled point system. Varsity teams earn points for success on the field or court in post-season play, with State appearance and titles garnering the highest ranks. Each school’s highest-scoring eight sports for boys and eight sports for girls are used to calculate the school’s awarded point totals. The Cup recognizes consistent success among student-athletes who are part of quality programs top to bottom.
