Congratulations to senior Ethan Konnick, who has been selected as a winner of the National Merit James E. Casey Scholarship. Among all students who entered the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, only about 16,000 were named Semifinalists. They were designated on a state representational basis, in proportion to each state’s percentage of the national total of graduating high school seniors. In order to advance in the competition and be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, a Semifinalist had to become a Finalist by fulfilling several requirements that included submitting a detailed scholarship application and presenting a record of very high academic performance. All winners of about 6,870 National Merit Scholarships are being chosen from the group of more than 15,000 distinguished Finalists.
Congratulations to Ethan on this outstanding achievement.
Congratulations to MPCS senior E. Konnick who has been recognized as National Merit Semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit® Scholarship Competition. This is a highly esteemed honor putting him in the top 1% of high-achieving students in America.
More than 1.3 million juniors entered the National Merit Scholar competition, with approximately 16,000 semifinalists recognized in the 70th annual program. Semifinalists are recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying College Board test used for program entry. Students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation, by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
To be named a Semiinalist is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations!
