Family Serve Day FAQs

What is Family Serve Day?

Family Serve Day is a designated day where our students, parents, teachers, and staff join together in teams to serve others throughout our community. As we unite with our families to develop true servant leaders, our prayer is that service becomes a lifestyle for our families at MPCS. We believe if families serve together they are able to grow closer to God together. Through this initial day of serving, perhaps our families will continue their service together throughout the year at one or more of these ministries.

How will I know which site to select?

Listed on this page are all of the locations to which we will be sending teams to serve. When you click on a location or ministry, you will find a link to the ministry's website where you can read more about the ministry and their vision. Also included in the dropdown are the team leaders, hours of service, and ways in which that team will serve. If this looks like the team on which you would like to participate, simply click on the registration button and you will be linked a sign-up page. If the team still has openings, you will be guided through the registration process.

Expand Content
Once we select a desired site, how do we sign up?

You will sign up for your site online, using the list found on this page. Part of your registration will include an online informed consent form and a t-shirt order form.

Expand Content
Can we sign up with friends?

Yes. Our desire is for you to serve as a family. If multiple families want to serve together, we encourage that.

Expand Content
Can a family bring a student NOT in their own family whose parents cannot serve?

Yes, a parent or guardian can sign a waiver for their child when they register online to serve with another family. The other family must be willing to take responsibility for your child and transport your child directly to and from the site (not MPCS campus).  If your child does not go with friends your child can be transported to and from our designated site we have set aside.

Expand Content
Do you have to be a certain age to participate?

Yes. Due to the nature of the activities for the off-campus sites, all students and those going to an off-campus site must be in third grade or higher.

Expand Content
Once I sign up for a site, how will I communicate with my team leader?

Your team leader will contact you and keep you updated and informed leading up to Family Serve Day.

Expand Content
What if I can't serve with my child(ren)?

Parents must register their own child. Students serving without a parent participating will register for CAMP GIDEON - a designated site for which transportation and lunch will be provided. These students will follow the regular arrival and dismissal schedule and will be picked up in regular carpool.

Should you wish to have your child(ren) participate with another family, you must still register your child(ren) and during registration indicate who will be responsible for transporting the child to and from the site and for the student’s safety at the site. Also for liability reasons, the families cannot meet at the school for pickup or drop off. Please plan to meet off campus when coordinating carpooling.

Expand Content

What about families with a child preK-second grade and a child in third through twelfth?

Students preK through second grade will be serving on campus for Family Serve Day, and will be dropped off at the normal school start time at MPCS. Families who also have children in third through twelfth grade will then go on to their selected work site with their older student. Parents may want to be mindful to select a site with hours and location favorable for them returning to the school in time to pick up their younger student in carpool.
