The STARBASE program aims to motivate students to explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), and encourages young students to set goals and achieve them. The program and curriculum are designed to be interactive, with specific activities that include flight simulators, rocket building and launching, and tours of both the Aviation Museum and Blackhawk helicopters.
Fifth-graders spent a week at the Clay National Guard Base attending the STARBASE program. The students experienced the following STEAM learning opportunities:
- Flight simulator
- Rocket building
- Rocket launching
- Tour of hangar, including Blackhawk helicopters
- Chaplain presentation
- Director presentation
- Aviation museum
This was a fantastic opportunity for hands-on, immersive learning!
