We are pleased to announce exciting events this spring to celebrate our graduates. Please make note of the details for the senior parade, senior college day, and commencement.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • November 18: Cap and gown order deadline

  • April 17: Senior Trip Meeting, 10:45 a.m., students only

  • *April 18: Senior Chapel, 10:50 a.m., Murray Arts Center, Kristi Lynn Theatre, seniors and parents only

  • April 29: College choice submission deadline.  All seniors must report their final college choice to Mrs. Amy Schwan. This information will be printed in the graduation program and on senior yard signs. This college will automatically receive the official final transcript. Please also indicate any scholarship offers awarded for each college and/or outside scholarships. Students who already know their final college decision may forward their choice to Mrs. Schwan any time before April 29.

  • May 1-12: AP Exams
  • May 8-12: Senior Exams. Remember attendance counts toward exemptions for non-AP courses.
  • *May 9: Senior College Day. The MPCS alumni relations office welcomes our newest alumni at this fun event, including a food truck and class photo. Yearbooks, and caps and gowns will also be distributed. This is a required student-only event.
  • May 14-18: Senior Disney Trip. Please contact Mrs. Angela Coleman if you have senior trip questions.
  • May 19: Senior Parade, 12:15 p.m., on campus. Parents, plan to attend.
    • The on-campus lineup will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Murray Arts Center parking lot.
    • The parade will begin at 12:15 p.m. The route will go around campus and will continue into The Overlook subdivision.
    • You may decorate your car, and please have a sign with the senior’s name visible. You can decorate the vehicle with their college/workplace colors, mascot, etc. Please do not throw items or candy from the vehicle.
    • Students may be visible through a sunroof or truck bed while on campus, but the Police Department states they must be inside the vehicle when the car crosses over Stanley Road and drives through The Overlook.
    • Any family members not in the car may sit along the parade route on Tayside Crossing. Please park on only one side of the road to assist our neighbors in navigating the road safely.
  • *May 19: Graduation Rehearsal, 2:00 p.m., Graduates only. Turner Chapel AME Church, 492 North Marietta Pkwy NE, Marietta, GA 30060
    • Students need to report to Turner Chapel AME no later than 2:00 p.m., immediately following the parade.
    • There is to be no food, gum, or drinks brought into the church.
    • Students should plan to eat lunch BEFORE the parade.
    • NO HATS inside the church, please.
  • *May 20: Commencement, 9:00 a.m., Turner Chapel AME Church. Each family will be issued 15 tickets (not including the graduate). If you are in need of additional tickets, please contact Mrs. Schwan (Grade 12 Chair) to make note of it. Tickets will be distributed after spring break.
    • Students arrive at Turner Chapel by 8:15 a.m. and report to the Fellowship Hall. They will enter through the bottom exterior door.  (They will know where this is based on graduation practice on May 19.)
    • Tickets are required for admission. Please make sure your guests have their tickets in hand.
    • Seating is first come/first served, except for the Valedictorian's and Salutatorian's families and the PTF Auction winners.  We ask that you line up and patiently wait for the Turner Chapel staff to allow entrance to the sanctuary.
    • We STRONGLY encourage you to carpool and ask that graduates ride with their families, as parking is limited.  We will have overflow parking at Marietta Power, and we will have a shuttle bus running to the church.
    • The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Late entry is not permitted.
    • Parents, please collect your graduate's phone at this time, as we do not want students on their phones during the ceremony.
    • Graduates should arrive in their cap and gown. Remember, dark dress pants, dress shoes, a dress shirt and tie are to be worn by the gentlemen graduates, and a nice dress and shoes for the ladies.  (There are stairs involved in the ceremony, so make shoe selections wisely). No chewing gum, please.
    • No food, drinks, water, noisemakers, balloons, or flowers are allowed in the sanctuary.
    • The Prayer of Dedication portion takes place towards the end of the ceremony. Graduates and parents will receive instructions during the ceremony. Parents, when you see your student proceed to a prayer station, please join them.  This is for immediate family only, not extended family or other guests.  We ask that you quietly return to your seat and wait respectfully until all students have completed their prayer time.
    • Students will process out of the sanctuary at the close of the ceremony, so please wait until final dismissal.  Students are NOT permitted to throw caps; we will make sure they have the opportunity to do this for a photo op on Senior Day (May 9).
    • All SGA students will need to return their stoles to Mrs. Schwan following the ceremony; the graduate will keep all other regalia and honor cords.
    • A live-stream of the ceremony will be available by clicking here.

* Attendance required

EAGLE BACKERS SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is awarded annually to an MPC senior girl and boy who do well in the classroom and have played at least two JV/varsity sports during their time at MPCS.

The deadline for the 2023-2024 academic year is March 18. Details and requirements to submit an application can be found at the link below. Good luck scholar-athletes!
