Parker Hanley is a seventh-year student at Mount Paran Christian School and a superlative member of the class of 2019. Parker is a student-athlete who shares that “Mount Paran has challenged me academically and spiritually in ways that I could have never imagined. Walking into school every day, I knew that I was being challenged in all aspects of life by coaches and teachers.” Parker shares that his favorite memory as an MPCS student is that of playing football his senior year. He says that the bond he created with the guys that he was privileged to step on the field with is something that he will never forget. Parker’s parents share that it is his personality that makes him so unique and that fills them with such love and pride. His parents explain, “Parker is a kid whose presence you simply enjoy being in whether it is because he is making you laugh because of his awesome sense of humor or wowing you with his passion for knowledge of history, politics, and law.” This attribute of Parker’s personality is evident as he plans to double major in economics and political science in college with a long-term career goal of serving in the area of law or investment banking.
Parker has applied to the University of Alabama (Honors College), the University of Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology, Tulane University, and Georgetown University. While he was awarded a Zell Miller Scholarship and Grant to attend the University of Georgia, Parker plans to attend the University of Alabama in the fall with a University of Alabama Scholarship of $80,000 and the Alumni Scholar Award of $4,000. Parker has shown that there is no limit to what one can accomplish when Christ is the center of one’s life. Perhaps Parker’s parents understand the directionality of his future best: “Parker has an endearing gift of kindness that will serve him well all the days of his life.”
