Senior Elizabeth Smith Awarded Prestigious NHS Scholarship

The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Elizabeth Smith, a high school senior at Mount Paran Christian School and member of the NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist. Elizabeth Smith is one of 575 semifinalists receiving a $3200 NHS scholarship toward higher education. This scholarship brings Elizabeth’s total of scholarship offers to more than $673,000 so far!

For nearly 100 years, NHS members have been making a difference in their schools and communities and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

At Mount Paran, Elizabeth has been elected to leadership roles in SGA, promRed, and Mu Alpha Theta, while also participating in National Honor Society, Beta Club, National Spanish Honors Society, and International Thespian Society. That is a lot of responsibility, but Elizabeth is the type of person who thrives on challenge and service. While maintaining high GPA, she has been an active and successful member of the Dozier School of the Arts, Cum Laude. She has even served as an Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee volunteer. Amid all these activities, Elizabeth founded and serves as president of a nonprofit called Stuffed Full of Love. Elizabeth says all her extracurricular have prepared her for “both college and the workforce; I have become very talented at multi-tasking.”This fall, Elizabeth plans to attend University of Notre Dame to study Computer Science and Psychology and then work in federal law enforcement. “Her relentless dedication to achieve is remarkable!“ – Dr. Trici Holmes

The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) is the leading organization of and voice for principals and other school leaders across the United States. NASSP seeks to transform education through school leadership, recognizing that the fulfillment of each student’s potential relies on great leaders in every school committed to the success of each student. Since 1946, more than $15 million in scholarships has been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. We wish Elizabeth well as she prepares for an amazing future.
