Night of Champions is the end-of-summer testing event in which all MPC football high school players participate. Athletes are tested in the 40-yard dash, pro agility, vertical jump, bench press, back squat, and clean. This is always a great kickoff to the season and to see how much the players have improved through their strength training during the summer months.
Coaches rank each player’s results based off of a scoring scale for each event. The players must not only be strong in the weight-lifting events, but also be able to display speed and quickness in the field events.
This year had some close competition that resulted in two school records being broken (A. Lee 550 lb. back squat and N. Vangarelli 320 lb. clean). The top three finishers were only separated by three points. Our 2019 Night of Champions winner is quarterback, N. Vangarelli. Great work the MPC way!
