MPCS is proud to announce that class of 2022 senior, Steven Baker, has been named a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist.
Semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program consist of approximately 16,000 students. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for the award, semi-finalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95% of the semi-finalists are expected to attain this standing, and half of those will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. The goal of the program is to honor the nation's scholastic champions and encourage the pursuit of academic excellence.
Steven is a multi-talented student who has attended MPCS since preschool. He has been an instrumental part of the Eagle Robotics program since middle school and involved in PLTW® coursework. During high school, Steven has been part of NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, Key Club, SGA, pep band, and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. He is also an avid pianist. Congratulations Steven!
