Congratulations to high school student O. Causby on the significant accomplishment of earning the rank of Eagle Scout! This is a hard-earned honor that requires participants demonstrate leadership, service, and knowledge.
He chose to recognize as his most influential mentor his physics and engineering teacher, Mr. Brad Smith, and pinned him with the Eagle Scout Mentor pin. O. Causby specifically mentioned the impact Mr. Smith has had on his faith and character in addition to the rigor of his academic training.
Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle. Requirements include living by the Scout Oath and Scout Law, progressing through seven ranks, completing at least 21 merit badges, serving in key positions of responsibility, completing an Eagle Scout Project, and passing an extensive review process. The Scout program offers young men many opportunities in leadership and community service.
