Congratulations to the Soaring Eagle Marching Band for a riveting performance recently at the Strong Rock Classic! Despite their youth and a thin depth-chart at certain positions, they have rallied at the end of the season to put together an explosive program focused on fundamentals and execution.
Drumline and winds put points on the board with excellent ratings, while the drum majors and color guard earned a gold-standard superior rating. Drum majors took home third place out of ten single-A bands, and percussion also outscored others.
Meanwhile, the story of the day was the color guard. With a six-person team consisting of three middle schoolers and three high schoolers competing against larger high school varsity color guards, the MPCS group won first place in the single-A division. The biggest victory, however, was announced at the end of the event, when it was proclaimed that the MPCS color guard had taken third place overall for the entire competition, regardless of division! They were ranked just below perennial color guard powerhouse Northgate High School by a mere half point. This is an historic accomplishment for our color guard program.
Best wishes to these outstanding artists as they propel toward the end of the season!
