MAP® Growth™ Test for Grades 3-8

MAP® Growth™ Test for Grades 3-8

MPCS utilizes the MAP® Growth test from NWEA® for students in grades 3-8. MAP® Growth scores help teachers check student performance by consistently measuring achievement and growth both within and across grade levels. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.

Students will take the tests in the fall, winter, and spring. Following each testing period, parents will receive a Family Report showing a summary of how your child is growing and performing academically. From August 29-September 1, students in grades 3-8 will participate in the fall administration of the test. The assessment will be administered on Chromebooks in grades 3-5 and Surface Pro Computers in grades 6-8.

The MAP® Growth measures achievement and growth across various subsections. Students in grades 3-5 will take three subtests: reading, language usage, and math. Students in grades 6-8 will take four subtests: reading, language usage, math, and science. Each subtest is 45-60 minutes in duration.

MAP® Growth tests are unique for each student, adapting to your child’s responses to measure skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If he/she answers incorrectly, the next question is easier. These results provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn. MAP® Growth student reports present realistic learning goals by subject areas and allow teachers to tailor instruction to challenge every student at every level.

Since MAP® Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, teachers can identify students with related scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics and then plan instruction accordingly. MAP® Growth reports also provide typical growth data for students in the same grade and with the same starting performance level.

We are truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about MAP® Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit.
