A. Osofisan was recently awarded a Gold Key from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for 2021. The competition seeks to recognize students in grades 7-12 in either writing or art. The Gold Key award is the highest regional award possible and automatically enables submission at the national level. Miss Osofisan's work is a personal narrative detailing her experience of watching video footage of George Floyd’s death in the summer of 2020. Her descriptive writing, coupled with her emotional connection, earned recognition from the regional judging panel at Savannah College of Art and Design, which serves as the program administrator for Georgia and South Carolina.
