Dirty Work at the Crossroads: This play, in the style of an old-fashioned, Victorian melodrama, tells the story of Nellie Lovelace, an innocent country girl; Munro Murgatroyd the villain; his wife, Ida Rhinegold, belle of the New Haven Music Halls; and Adam Oakhart, the handsome blacksmith’s son with a heart of gold. As Munro, the viperous villain, attempts to steal the fortune of Nellie Lovelace and destroy the life of her true love, Adam, the audience will be encouraged to “boo” for our villain and cheer “hooray” for the hero!
