Each year, more than 7,000 Georgia high school theatre teachers and their students gather for the annual Georgia Thespian conference, “ThesCon”. The multi-day event is filled with numerous troupe performances, workshops and masterclasses, and college recruiting for theatre major hopefuls. At the end of the conference, the Georgia Thespian Outstanding Educator of the Year is named.
This year, our very own Meagan Williams was nominated for the award. The award is significant for two reasons:
- First, the teacher must be nominated by their students, who write persuasively on the merits of what their teacher does for their troupe.
- Second, the final decision for the award is determined by peer teachers who have won the award in previous years.
MPCS students were most persuasive in their nomination of Mrs. Williams. Through her impact in the Georgia Thespian community, her peers recognized her outstanding accomplishments as the Georgia Thespian Outstanding Educator of the Year! She received the award from MPCS high school drama student A. Hester.
MPCS student A. Buchan also represented the school well as a Student Officer.
Congratulations to Mrs. Williams! MPCS is thankful for the artistic gifts she shares with her students each day.
