The MPCS Executive Council is the key leadership team who helps make the day-to-day decisions in support of fulfilling the MPCS mission. We encourage you to learn more about each member as we feature the various departments weekly.
Title: Interim Head of School
Education: B.S. in Political Science, The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga; M.Ed. in Educational Administration, Georgia State University; Ed.D., The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Number of years in my profession: 53
Professional experience: I was Vice President at both Lee University in Tennessee and Houghton College in New York, as well as Director of Graduate Leadership at Gordon College in Massachusetts. I served as Head of School at MPCS for a total of 18 years and have been "retired" for five years before coming back home to MPCS this April.
Fun fact: I collect Presidential biographies written close to the time of their presidencies. I love travel, particularly to Europe and Canada. I enjoy hiking and yard work. I am currently writing a murder mystery novel. The best moments in life, however, are when I am spending time with my children and seven grandchildren!
What I'm reading now or favorite book: I am reading The Vanishing American Adult by Ben Sasse.
Connections to MPCS: Current students Addie Anne and Brandt David Varner are my grandchildren. My daughter, Amanda Varner, teaches seventh grade Bible, and my son-in-law, Scott Varner, works in operations at MPCS.
What I love most about MPCS: The life-transforming nature of our school's mission
What I love about my role at the school: Interacting with faculty, staff, students, and parents fills my tank every day! The Christ-honoring people who work and study here make this place what it is.
My hope for MPCS: I pray the school will always be faithful to its mission.
