MPCS is proud to host the upcoming FIRST® robotics competitions on January 26 in the Hughes Gymnasium. Our two high school Eagle Robotics teams will compete at various times from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the “Rover Ruckus” FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC).
After four months of league play, the high school teams are gearing up for the final qualifying event that determines which teams advance to the Georgia State Championship of FTC. Our school will host the Northern Georgia FTC League Tournament in the Hughes Gymnasium. On that day, 36 Robotics teams from three leagues will descend upon the MPCS campus to pit their inventions against one another, finalize the rankings, and settle advancement into the State Championship. The event is free and everyone is invited to come give a home-field advantage to our JV team 11364 Diamond Plate, and our Varsity team 7373 Carbon Fiber.
The FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. (FLL Jr.) EXPO will be held in conjunction with the FTC league tournament. FLL Jr. teams will present and share their Mission Moon LEGO® WeDo projects with judges and will be recognized before the FTC opening ceremony and competition. The middle school FLL Eagle Robotics teams will have their LEGO® EV3 robots and projects on exhibit for all in attendance to see! They will be running their robots on the “Into Orbit” mission board completing complex missions throughout the day.
