This year's annual CommUNITY Parent Meeting provided highlights of several diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives taking place across the MPCS campus. From an original spoken word poem by senior K. Brothers, to highlights of high school clubs and the middle school Black History Bowl (thank you sixth-grader A. Rivers), the evening offered a glimpse into how the MPCS family is continually working to be better together.
The program, led by Director of Diversity and Inclusion Catina Taliaferro, also recognized strategic diversity efforts by MPCS, such as the "Campaign for CommUNITY," which recently won the Gold CASE award for DEI programming. Sophomore C. Monroe talked about our #LoveOneAnother theme for the year.
Head of School Dr. Tim Wiens introduced the school's Philosophy of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, while Assistant Head of School and Head of High School Tawanna Rusk encouraged parents and students to partner together, to be open to discussion, to ask questions, to offer grace when we inevitably make mistakes, and to offer a warm welcome to all into our MPCS family.
