In 1997, a time capsule was buried at the former MPCS Allgood Campus, following the construction of the Eagle's Nest playground. On Friday, December 10, we did “The Big Dig” to unearth the time capsule.
The BIG question is, "What was inside?"
After some lengthy digging, the shovel found the capsule! However, it was immediately apparent that the capsule was no longer intact. The contents of the capsule had fallen into the hole beneath the capsule. Included within were documents describing the capsule burial, a VHS tape, a T-shirt from the playground construction, and other assorted items. Much of the literature found in the capsule was wet and, sadly, unreadable, but nothing could diminish the fun and anticipation of "The Big Dig."
Thank you to the Alumni Council, including Josh "Ike" Eisenberg '99 and Caroline Bradford '03, for pushing for “The Big Dig.” A special thank you to Jonathan Duncan '04, who did the video/photography for the dig.
