The MPCS family is invited to participate in “Beyond the End Zone 2021” on June 26 in the Catherine Steele Sewell Stadium. The Davis Direction Foundation is presenting this PLEDGE, PASS, AND PUNT event featuring NFL superstar Darren Waller. The foundation creates awareness around drug and addiction prevention.
“Beyond the End Zone” is a student-focused event designed to create awareness around substance use disorder in our youth. It’s family-friendly with football competition and activities for children. Anyone, boys and girls ages 5 and up, can compete in appropriate levels in the PLEDGE, PASS, AND PUNT to win! From the “Sprout Spring” to the “SuperStar Challenge,” it will be a competition your kids (and you) won’t want to miss, with prizes and giveaways. Children under 4 are free, and a T-shirt is included in the ticket price. Also as part of the ticket price, enjoy a BBQ dinner after the event and stay to listen to Las Vegas Raiders’ Darren Waller share his story of recovery.

Prior to COVID-19, addiction statistics were dropping. Since then, more than 81,000 drug overdose deaths occurred in the U.S., which is the highest number of these deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period according to the CDC. Cobb county is the leading county in Georgia for overdose deaths. The goal of the Davis Direction Foundation and The Zone is to educate and prevent the disease of addiction before it starts. Let’s educate and pledge to be drug-free — our children's lives are at stake.
The Cobb county Board of Commissioners has proclaimed June 26 as “Fight Addiction and Fuel Recovery Day” in Cobb. Many Cobb county schools, teams, police, and leadership will be in attendance to help support this cause.
