Athletic Training Team

The athletic training (sports medicine) program at MPC gives students opportunities to pursue their interests related to medicine, physical therapy, sports training, health, and fitness. Certified trainers work with athletes on a daily basis to recover from injury, build strength, and condition the body to excel in the sport they are passionate about. Students may enroll in athletic training classes and assist trainers and doctors on the sidelines of all MPC sporting events. Athletic training team members assist at all home sporting events and are critical is assisting athletes during games. 

The Wellstar | PT Solutions Athletic Training Facility is located within the Knox Athletic Performance Center and is utilized by our student trainers and professional staff. The space has been newly renovated to include a full-service athletic training experience for our athletes. Injuries are handled here as well as rehabilitation and performance testing. The Catherine Steel Sewell Stadium also houses a quick-access athletic training room providing support to athletes for during-game injury assistance.

The MPC Athletic Training team serves all athletic teams on campus. From middle school match-ups to varsity sidelines, the athletic training team and sports medicine certified professionals have our student-athletes covered with care and recovery. Student trainers work alongside trained staff for game prep and player rehabilitation as directed by doctors. 

The team assists with all home games held on MPC facilities each week. High school students interested in participating and earning a letter in athletic training may connect with staff trainers in the spring. Application information is in the tab below. 

Prospective Student Athletic Trainers (SAT):

Thanks for your interest in Mount Paran Christian’s Athletic Training program! Student Athletic Training is an exciting, fast-paced, time-consuming, and rewarding opportunity. You will assist two certified athletic trainers in the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of sports injuries. You will learn basic first aid, treatment, and documentation of injuries, as well as taping and wrapping techniques, among other skills. Responsibility is a key factor that goes into a student’s athletic training and daily life; therefore, we are looking for highly responsible individuals. 

This is a great opportunity to develop future college goals by embracing skills of time management, dedication, responsibility, and personability. If Athletic Training or any health profession is something you wish to pursue in college, we can also assist in finding a college that meets your needs. Furthermore, if you complete the requirements for the program, you will receive a Varsity letter and pin for each year completed. 

Please refer to the deadline for your application to be turned in on the MPC athletics website under Sports > Athletic Training or under the TEAM information in the section on this page below. Upon review of your application, we will send out an email through SignUp Genius of interview times. From this link, you are required to select your own interview date and time. Being a part of this program will give access to opportunities that many students on campus do not have. Please be aware that you may be asked to work some late game nights, but that is part of the role of a Certified Athletic Trainer. Being a student athletic trainer (SAT) is a privilege reserved for a select few. 

MPC Student Athletic Trainer Application

Every year, MPC student-athletes must submit the required GHSA and MPC consent forms in order to be able to participate on athletics teams. Forms are found on FACTS > Magnus.

Sports Interest Form: Each year, please fill out the sports interest form for the sports in which your child plans to tryout. This enables coaches to communicate about tryouts and schedules prior to the season. The current-year form is found on the MPC athletics homepage.

GHSA Physical Form: Before participating in a sport at MPC, every student athlete is required to have a Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Physical Form on file in the athletic office. Some physicians prefer to provide their own physical form, but these are not recognized by GHSA, nor are they as comprehensive in evaluating fitness for athletic competition. You doctor must fill out the GHSA form or you will be provided one at the annual Sports Physicals Day held on campus each May. The form is valid for one calendar year. Cardiac Arrest and Concussion Forms: GHSA also requires these forms be on file for student-athletes in certain sports. These should be filled out in FACTS > Magnus.

Athletic Participation Consent Form (Parent): This form is to be completed once each school year for each student athlete. The form is located in FACTS > Magnus.

Athletic Participation Consent Form (Student 18+): This form is also required for student-athletes who are or will be 18 for that season.
