Dozier School of the Arts

Dozier School of the Arts students select one Area of Concentration while continuing to have opportunities to experience multiple arts disciplines throughout their time in DSA. As students progress through the four-year pathway in their selected Area of Concentration, flexible scheduling arrangements may be employed to provide time for more extensive coursework and additional study.

Along with daily courses, students have opportunities to perform in the local community, at the school, and in regional and national venues to engage servant-leadership by sharing their gifts with others. Whether students become performers, teachers, or advocates of the arts, the vision of the program is to assist students in acquiring the tools necessary to help achieve their goals. 

After completing all DSA study requirements, evaluations, and performances, students will graduate with a DSA certificate, presented in addition to the regular academic diploma. The DSA certificate indicates that a student has pursued a focused and sustained area of arts study marked by passion, discipline, advanced knowledge, servant-leadership, and a commitment to excellence. This certificate may help communicate to colleges, scholarship committees, and future arts programs that a student has completed a meaningful pathway of artistic study, growth, leadership, and contribution within the MPCS arts program. Each year, between 25% and 30% of MPCS seniors finish high school having earned DSA certificate recognition at graduation.

Beginning in Fall 2026, current MPCS students may apply to participate in the Dozier School of the Arts. This application process is designed for advanced and aspiring student artists who desire to pursue a more intentional pathway of study, growth, and leadership in the arts.

The DSA application process is not a separate application for admission to MPCS and does not require an audition for admission into the school.
