Preschool PK3-4 and TK

Chapel is held on Tuesdays/Wednesdays in the main commons area. Children learn from God's Word, participate in corporate worship, and learn age-appropriate biblical Truth.

Preschool students also may contribute to the Fall Food Drive to support MUST Ministries, as well as simple service projects throughout the year. They participate in the annual MPCS Family Serve Day by doing hands-on projects that benefit multiple ministries around the Marietta and Cobb County community.

The center-based curriculum engages students through a structured, small group rotational format with high levels of teacher-student interaction. Children love exploring in these centers and learn valuable social and sharing skills. Early collaboration skills set them up for success in the elementary classroom setting.

Preschool students have the unique opportunity to interact with older MPCS students through school activities. Upper grade-level students often act as mentors for our younger Eagles. High schoolers help out in preschool classrooms by reading to children and serving teachers. The MPCS preschool world comes with built-in role models who are also growing in their faith and desire to serve Christ!

MPCS is pleased to provide an on-site, certified, and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to specifically serve our PK/TK students. In the areas of articulation, language, voice, and fluency, we evaluate and provide appropriate services to meet the individual communication needs of our students.

The Zone After-School Care Program (grades PK-8) is offered every day until 6:00 p.m. Active play and focused, hands-on activities are always taking place in The Zone! There is an additional fee for this service. 

Though school begins promptly at 7:50 a.m. (and 8:35 a.m. on Late-Start Wednesdays), parents may take advantage of Early Care starting at 7:00 a.m.

Explore After-School Programs

Unlike church or daycare programs, preschool at MPCS is real school intended to prepare young children for Kindergarten. 

All preschool teachers are career educators, degreed and Georgia-certified. Some also have earned advanced degrees, gifted certifications, and/or are Orton-Gillingham trained. And more, every teacher is dedicated to the Christian faith and committed to integrating biblical Truth while modeling young minds.

A very small (average 8:1) student-to-teacher ratio guarantees individualized attention, with both a certified teacher and full-time paraprofessional in each classroom.

Teaching methods include whole-class instruction, small group rotations in center-based exploration, purposeful play, music and movement, in-house field trips, hands-on activities, and an Enrichment program with instruction in STEAM, Spanish, art, music, and Physical Education. Children love interacting and learn invaluable social and sharing skills.

The preschool program follows the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards and is centered on advanced levels of Early Childhood learning. Students are taught through targeted curricula such as The Wright Skills for Literacy, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Zoo Phonics, and Math Their Way. The program covers mathematics, language arts, phonics, science, fine arts, foreign language, and physical education — exceeding all Georgia early learning standards.

Daily Bible instruction and weekly chapels integrate God’s Truth across the curriculum. In-house Enrichment includes instruction and exploration in music, Spanish, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), art, and P.E.

As a part of our preschool, MPCS offers a Transitional Kindergarten program. After completion of PK4, this program provides an extra year of learning for young five-year-olds or children who may need additional time for developmental or academic growth. This small class creates the opportunity for developmentally-appropriate instruction, with a focus on phonics and social skills. These students then move into Kindergarten the following year with a solid foundation needed for their academic career.

MPCS PK and TK curriculum is enhanced through Enrichment instruction. During a daily Enrichment time, music, art, STEAM, or Spanish is used for deeper connection to thematic units, enhancing classroom instruction. Enrichment classes broaden students' minds by introducing unique, skill-driven experiences across a variety of disciplines.

Just as important for development are recess and P.E., which are also part of the weekly rotation. Play spaces include the preschool playground and the two-story indoor play village. Both areas encourage imaginary play, social skills, and gross motor skill development.
