New Headmaster Announced

Dear MPCS Community and Friends:

Dr. David Tilley, the Headmaster at Mount Paran Christian School (MPCS) for the past 14 years, is retiring as of June 30, 2018. His impact on our school and the Christian school community cannot be overstated. He has led our school with his boundless energy and love for Jesus Christ in a way that has brought significant accolades to both our school and himself. He is seen as a leader in PK-12th grade Christian education and his influence over our growth has been palpable. His departure at the end of this school year marks the end of one era and the beginning of a new one, one marked with optimism and encouragement. We look forward to seeing all that God has in store for MPCS in the years ahead.
Over the past seven months, the succession sub-committee of the Board of Trustees for MPCS has been seeking God’s wisdom as we searched for the next Head of School to succeed Dr. Tilley. With the help of CarterBaldwin, an executive search firm, we conducted a nationwide search. We were fortunate to interview many incredibly qualified candidates who desired to step into what God is doing on the campus at MPCS. The process served as an affirmation of the work Christian schools are doing in our community and around the country.

After a thorough process and much prayer from the entire MPCS community, we would like to introduce Dr. Tim Wiens as the new Head of School beginning July 1, 2018. Dr. Wiens and his wife, Katie, have a seven-year-old son, Eliot, who will become a student at MPCS. Dr. Wiens is an accomplished Christian educator, having been the Head of School at Boston Trinity Academy and at Delaware County Christian School near Philadelphia. Dr. Wiens has served on the faculty at Wheaton College, is an adjunct faculty member at Vanderbilt University, teaching on independent school leadership, and is Co-Director of the ADVIS Summer Leadership Institute at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. He is currently completing an MBA program at Oxford University in England, with an anticipated completion date of September 2018. Dr. Wiens was one of the founders of the Council on Educational Standards and
Accountability (CESA), of which MPCS is a member, and he was the first Executive Director of that Christian school organization. Dr. Wiens has a strong love for the Lord and has dedicated his life to Christian education, and we are very excited to have Eliot, Katie, and Tim join our MPCS community.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Wiens and his family to Mount Paran Christian School. The Board is excited to see where God will lead our school under Dr. Wiens’s leadership in the years ahead.
