Giving to MPCS ~ Goal Scholarship
… academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment …
The Georgia GOAL Scholarship
Under an exciting new state law, you can redirect a portion of your Georgia income tax payments to provide scholarship assistance to incoming MPCS students! To enable our supporters to take advantage of this program, we are working with the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, a state-approved student scholarship organization.
If you owe Georgia taxes, you can receive a tax credit (more than a mere income tax deduction!) against your Georgia income tax liability for amounts contributed to GOAL. For married couples filing a joint return, the maximum tax credit-eligible contribution is $2,500 ($1,000 as an individual). The best part is that you are not affecting your budget in any way; you are contributing money to GOAL (designated for use at MPCS) that you were going to pay to the state government in taxes anyway!
2010 Deadline: December 10
To ensure approval of your intended contribution in time to secure a 2010 Georgia income tax credit, you must take the first step listed below and file the Form IT-QEE-TP1 by December 10, 2010.

How does this work?
Step 1. Redirect your tax dollars to GOAL
- Complete the simple pre-approval form (TP1 form), make your check payable to "Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program" with "MPCS" designated in the memo line, and return these to the development office at Mount Paran Christian School.
- The development office will send via fax and receive approval from the Georgia Department of Revenue. Then, the development office will attach your check to the approved TP1 form and mail them to Georgia GOAL.
- GOAL will send you an acknowledgement (SSO1 form) which you will file with your taxes.
Step 2. Claim the credit
- When you complete your 2010 tax filing early next year, you get a dollar-for-dollar credit against your Georgia income taxes for the amount of your contribution, AND you get a charitable tax deduction on your federal taxes. You may still file your taxes electronically if you elect to take this credit.
Do you own or run a business?
Corporations can receive a tax credit for amounts contributed to the GOAL Scholarship Program up to 75 percent of their Georgia income tax liability. Presently, this tax credit is only fully available to "C" corporations. Unfortunately, shareholders of S corporations and members of LLCs and LLPs are subject to the individual tax credit limitations.
How are the funds used?
The GOAL Scholarship Program uses the MPCS designated contributions to fund K-12 scholarships for public school children who desire to attend MPCS. The scholarships are also available for qualified students who are eligible to enter kindergarten. Each year, MPCS uses its regular admission and financial aid processes to determine those students who are eligible to receive GOAL scholarships and submits the scholarship candidates and amounts to GOAL for final approval.
